Using regular, and older, photographs
Oct 28 2007, 10:32 PM EDT
I LOVE THE IDEA of scrapbooking, and I have been collecting stuff for years. I've only recently created several pages, and they don't come easy. I surf the web, have books, get the Scrapbooks, Etc., magazine, weekly newsletter and videos, go to scrapbook stores, everything, but the one thing that seems to hold me back are the photos! I have tried playing somewhat with computers to enlarge photographs, use effects, and print them, etc., but really, I mostly want to work with my existing photographs. Most of the layouts I see seem to have special photography zoomed into people, or just their faces, and the photos appear large enough to create a nice element to a page. Since I am trying to work with existing photos of times and events throughout our lives, I really don't want to take the extra time to crop photos, enlarge, etc., which really doesn't work very well with older photographs. Is there a chance Scrapbooks, Etc., can feature, in various ways, everyday photographs of various events and holidays which are on 3.2 x 5 or 4 x 6 for layouts? I realize I can crop here and there, but often there is a group of people, or I kind of want somewhat of the background which shows the evolution of our life by the little things in the background, etc. , which still leaves me with a relatively small-scale picture. Any suggestions would be helpful, too. But I do love this site, and the mag. Thanks! Lisa 8  out of 8 found this valuable. Do you?

Hi Lisa, thanks so much for your feedback. I, too, mostly scrap with 4x6" photos as I don't want to spend a lot on enlargements. You'll find lots of standard-size photos in this book (and the attached original layouts), plus I love the idea of including more of these types of stories on our site. Watch for an enhancement to our magazine sketches as well: We're going to include the photo sizes so you won't have to guess!
Thanks, Katie
