Storing photos before they are scrapbooked
Mar 25 2008, 12:58 PM EDT I have finally gotten all my photos film & digital all organized & into photo boxes- I have about 83 of them & am still taking pictures to add to that, Anybody have any good ideas where to store them? I am busily scrapbooking to get them into but in the meantime I looking for a place they can live. Do you store your photo boxes in with the rest of your scrapbook items I have had them on shelves but the weight of them has made the shelves sag. Any tips and ideas would be greatly appreciated. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Storing photos before they are scrapbooked
Mar 31 2008, 9:05 PM EDT I use cardboard photo boxes and have about 25 of them so far, I also have a couple of larger decorative carboard boxes for stuff I have saved to scrapbook with; one for each of my grandchildren with all of the stuff I have been able to collect like certificates, the first baby cap, hospital braclets, etc. Another set of boxes is from big trips like the one celebrating our 25th anniversary containing travel plans, napkins, cruise stuff, etc. My husband built a wall to wall shelf up high enough for a ladder which doesn't rob me from valuable space that is reachable, since I don't get to the boxes that often and only need one at a time, this has worked very well. I started by buying boxes for the new pictures, then slowly I got boxes for the thousands of pictures, now I have a box for Christmas, camping, family gatherings, etc. I hope that helps 1 out of 1 found this valuable. RE: Storing photos before they are scrapbooked
Apr 3 2008, 3:50 PM EDT I use creative memories power sort boxes. I had thousands of photos to sort and store! I also have twice that many digital photos. I lead a very large scrapbooking group online and a very knowledgeable one locally. It is very important that you store your photos in a photo safe environment. It is just as important as using photo safe supplies in your album. Whatever you store your photos in WILL impact your photos. The CM large photo storage box holds about 1200 photos and allows you to sort them into little compartments. This is a wonderful feature as you can just grab one small compartment and scrap from that without carrying around a large box or having to sort through a whole box to find what you are looking for. You can see these at http://preview.tinyurl.com/329jux (which will only be good for a month). After that, you can find them at the CreativeMemories.com site. It seriously saved me. I was able to sort everything and have it make sense. I also suggest going through your photos and NOT keeping any that aren't worth scrapping. If they are too blurry or too dark, there is no reason to keep them. If you can barely tell what the subject is, future generation will not be able to. The whole point of scrapping is saving memories :) It really only takes 1-8 or 10 photos to successfully scrap an event (usually). Then with journaling, you've got it preserved! :) I get asked this a lot in the group. Good luck, hope that helps. CMC Tammey Brown (Fargo, ND) 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |
