What kinds of scissors do you use?

I use quite a few different types of scissors. One tip is to make sure you keep your paper scissors seperate from your fabric scissors. That way you will always have a nice sharp pair for fabric or thread. I have different sizes, tiny pairs for small stuff and medium for general cutting.

Recommend a brand, and where to find it:

love Fiskars for general cutting. I find them at craft stores like Michael's. I LOVE my Gingher embroidery scissors for cutting ribbon and thread and fabric. These I find at Joannes and general fabric/quilt stores.

*I love the Cutter Bee Scissors. They are very sharp and they have a pair that is non-stick so that if you have to cut something you have alredy applied adhesive to, no problem. They won't get gunked up!

Any tips on sharpening scissors?

The only tip I have is to make sure you keep fabric and cutting scissor seperate (as mentioned above). Paper will dull your fabric scissors.

*I agree to def keep them separate and only use your paper scissors for paper and it will keep them sharp. I have a Fiskars scissor sharpener that can be bought for just a few dollars at fabric stores or Wal-mart. Also fabric stores, such as JoAnn's, often have professional scissor sharpening services available for cheap!
