There is so much one can do with Digital Scrapbooking. With your treasured photos, quality art and the latest technology the possibilities are endless. Traditional Scrapbooking and crafting can easily be integrated with digital to make the projects your way. Here is an example of a couple of pages done using Photoshop Elements, and ready to use templates from Create! Digital Art.
The old original photos were captured using an Epson scanner. The final album was printed and proofed on a wide carriage inkjet printer. Once everything was perfect we printed a dozen scrapbooks at one of the major photo centers. and hand delivered the albums to the bridemaids 50 years after the wedding.

One program that I like to use is "Scrapbook Plus". It only costs a few dollars on Amazon.com. I used their embellishments to create this entire layout below. BUT YOU CAN DO SO MUCH MORE.
I use this software to:
- Design my paper layouts. I create it on this software then put it togethor with the actual elements. In order to do this I scan all the papers / elements that i'm going to use. I do this because it's hard for me to design an entire layout in my head.
- I also use it to create digital layouts. Duh! But there's a catch. These kinds of software programs generally don't give you very good images. I go to www.digiscrapdepot.com and download all the thousands of FREEBIES they have available. Over 5,500 at the moment. The number grows by the hour. Keep each kit in their original folder than make a folder to hold them all. Then, use the scrapbook plus to put it all togethor.
MY PET LAYOUTS

| I scanned these beautiful layouts by scanning the actual papers. Then I used Paint Shop Pro to create the half ovals. This way they look like flaps that open up. SB plus created the heart shaped photo and matting. I added some beads to the centers of the flowers on the paper. Add a ribbon and journaling. | This is the Wallflower Collection. I re-arranged some things in order to create this. My puppy dog. www.digitalscrapbookfreebies.com is where you can find this collection. | For this layout, I again scanned the papers into the computer. I darked the ovals so you can see the separation between the background. Add a couple of overlays and a latch w/ tag. |

I think this is a cool technique to incorporate in your scrapbook layouts. Since I do mainly hybrid scrapbooking, I usually print my letters out and attach them with adhesives, but clearly either way works. Essentially, you use a thick "blocky" font that gives lots of space, and fill that font with a picture. You can create letters this way to spell out your title or to create other journaling. I use Adobe Photoshop Cs, but Adobe Elements would also work. I expect you can do this technique in most scrapbook software or image editing software, but I am only family with the Adobe products.
I have complete instructions, plus pictures, as my blog if anyone is interested. <a href="http://scrappingbydesign.com/blog/?p=62">Scrapping by Design</a> |

Well I certainly hope this area will expand and become a great place to share ideas and inspiration. I have been using a computer for 20 years so it was only natural that I would incorporate it into my new hobby. I do not want to do print outs of completed pages but rather combine elements printed out from the computer (I am a digital photographer too) with all the beautiful papers out there. I want the dimension and texture you can only get by layer elements on the page. The internet is a great resource to be able to pick up copyright free images that can be turned into all sorts of page embellishments by layering with mats. Then there is the ease of being able to size an image/font to fit your page exactly, no going to the store to find a penguin that is only 2" tall, if the one I have on the computer is 4" I just scale it down and print it out. You don't have to be restricted to plain printer paper either. Most newer printers allow you to print on all sorts of paper: cardstock, vellum, transparencies, envelopes, even material! When it comes to digital scrapbooking if you can imagine it you can have it.
