Using a stylus or other tool to create a raised or depressed design in paper, card stock, crafting metal, or other surface.
One tip for making your dry-embossing easier: Rub wax paper over the paper that your embossing before you start. The stylis will move easier.

On this page, which was in a BHG issue, I dry embossed the circles around the shaker boxes.

Got a great tip? Share what you've learned with others in the community. After you have dry embossed an image, you can lightly sand over the embossed image to distress the edges a bit. This makes it stand out more too. This is even better if you use cardstock with a white core.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------You can
use any stencil and dry emboss the image onto your scrapbook paper. All you need is a
light table, stylis and your
stencil. If you don't have a light table just put it up to a window.
How to Dry EmbossTake the stencil and tape it onto your light table. Use paint tape to adhere it. Take your scrapbook paper and flip it so the backside is facing upward. Put it
on top of the stencil. Lastly, take the stylist
and trace the stencil. You've just created an image.
IF you want your image to stand out even more, take sand paper and rub over the stenciled image. This works on all paper
except cardstock. Your paper needs a white core (center) for this to work. If your not sure if it has a white core make a small tear in the paper. If you see white your in the clear.
There are a couple of examples.

I dry embossed Mickey's face on the blue scrapbook paper before putting in on the page. I also sanded the image so it would stand out a little more.

| I dry embossed Minnie Mouse' face and also the date that is being held on the paper by the 2 yellow brads. Close up pic below

| On this page I dry embossed the angel and the frame around the photograph.

In this layout I created the right side border by dry embossing from a stencil. I dry embossed flowers and leaves because the most prominent part of the photograph is the palm trees (even though I was in disney world) |

I did the same on the left side of this layout.
