Brad
Definition:
Two-pronged fastener featuring a round or decorative top. Prongs are inserted through the surface and opened butterfly-style.One of the easiest and most versatile of the embelishments, there are hundreds of shapes, colours, and sizes; if you can imagine it, you can probably get a brad that shape.
These are the first few that I pulled out. Basic shapes are excellent to have to use as fasteners as well as embellishments, some of the fancier shapes you won't use as often but pack a lot of punch.
Some ways to use brads;
- - attach pieces at the corners
- - Create borders, shapes or patterns
- - wind twine or ribbon around
- - flower centers

- What ways have you used brads in your projects? Brads can be used in so many ways. I have tons on hand in all sorts of colors. They can be used as a way to fasten ribbons to a page. I cut a length of ribbon and add a brad through both ends of the ribbon to attach to a page. I use tags alot and use brads all the time to secure these to a page. Brads are normally used as fasteners to add something to a page, but my favorite technique to use brads is simply as a stand alone embellishment. For example, if my pages is missing a little something in an area I will add a few colored brads as little "sprinkles" on the page. Or I will add a row of 3 brads to the spot. It really does the trick!
I used brads as decoration. Originally it had what looked like belt buckle holes. I filled them in with some decoration.
It's holding the vellum to the page on this layout. The different color brads match colors in the paper.
