Definition:
Albums are books designed to hold completed layouts. Most hold
page protectors to keep layouts safe and fingerprint-free.
Album styles include three-ring (snap-apart rings for page insertion); post-bound (bolts hold page protectors); strap-hinge (plastic straps hold pages together); and spiral-bound (wire binding with permanently attached pages).

What are some of your favorite album brands and styles?Whenever I go scrapbook shopping, I find it hard to resist buying new scrapbook albums. So I own many different brands, styles, and sizes. However, there is one brand that I buy time and time again, which I use as general family scrapbook albums. I like the Giant Archival 3-ring albums made by Canson. These albums use top-loading sheet protectors, and because the front and back cover is all one piece, the albums are quite sturdy. The 3-ring binding makes adding and moving pages a snap - literally :) This is a simple, no-nonsense album and it's priced just right for my budget.

Leah Fung, Scrapbooks etc. Contributing EditorHow do you choose which style for which project? For me, I always try to decide if I think I'm going to need to rearrange or add pages before I'm finished. Albums that use top-loading sheet protectors are great if you need to rearrange, because you can just slide them out without taking the pages out of the binding. Spiral-bound albums, on the other hand, are nice for gift albums which usually stick to one subject and are less likely to be rearranged.
SPIRAL BOUNDHere's a new
As you can see there are many types of albums to choose from.
I use for
spiral bound albums. When I am
creating a new album I gather all the
papers, stickers, embellishments that I will use and put them in the page protectors within the spiral bound album. One protector can contain all the papers I
might use for the new album. Another page protector can be all the stickers I
might use and so on. This way you
don't have to
keep going through all your stock everytime you want to create a page. You'll have everything you need in 1 spiral bound album.
NO PAGE PROTECTORS IF you plan on having
interactive elements in your album you may want to use this type of album found at Hobby Lobby. You don't have any page protectors.

You have 10 white, blank pages to create on. They come in 3 sizes and various colors. You can also decorate the album in many many ways. It gives you the freedom to do that.

As you can see to the right there is a decorate cover for the album. I used stencil paste and a stencil to create it. After it dried I used yellow and green chalk to give it some color. The stencil was made up of roses, leaves and vines.

This is the blank cover.
